Rainbow Doily Cards

Good morning! Sharing a couple rainbow cards I put together recently using an AMAZING new large and detailed stamp from Simon Says Stamp, paired up with a fabulous Simon Says Stamp die and stamp set for the sentiments!

I used the Simon Says Stamp Rebecca Lace Background stamp for both of these. For the first one, I set up my watercolor paper and stamp in my MISTI, then used various mini distress inks to ink it up in a rainbow pattern, overlapping slightly to blend between colors. I then misted my WATERCOLOR paper to dampen it, then stamped over on the wet paper. This allowed the colors to bleed and blend on the watercolor paper.

Then, while I set that aside to dry, I glanced at my stamp, and thought...hmmm...there is another card hiding there I think! So I grabbed a clean piece of watercolor paper, and stamped off the residual ink and water onto it. And as is sometimes the case, I think this one ended up being my favorite card of the two - LOVE the soft rainbow inked effect with a hint of doily texture to it!

Once the first one dried, I stamped over the distress ink with black ink to bring a little detail back to the image and give a more bold and striking effect. I die cut both layers of the fun Script Thanks Wafer Die in white and black cardstock, layered them together, and then stamped and heat embossed an extra sentiment using You + Me (part of the SSS August Card Kit) on a Stitched Banner.

For the softer one, I just die cut the top layer of the Script Thanks Wafer Die and stamped the rest of my sentiment directly on the watercolor paper, again using You + Me (part of the SSS August Card Kit).

I die cut both front panels with a Stitched Rectangle, then mounted with sturdy adhesive on a white top folding card base.

So what do you think? Do you like the bolder effect, or the softer look?
