MCS Summer Mini Release - Speech Bubble Dies

Good morning! Welcome to day 2 of the fun summer mini release at My Craft Spot. Today we are showcasing a new another die set, called Speech Bubbles - made to perfectly coordinate with the Banner Sentiment stamp sets, as well as lots of other MCS sets! Here is what I made with it:

Here are the two new dies - the first one I used yesterday, and the second one is what I used for today's card. They are both available for purchase now at My Craft Spot!

For this card I die cut several of each size of the speech bubbles from vellum, then used Staz-on ink to stamp a bunch of fun sentiments from Scrapping Life Stamp Set on them to build my own custom sentiment. I attached them to my card with some machine stitching, and also stitched around the outer edges of my pattern paper from Studio Calico. Finished off with some yellow sequins from Trick or Treat sequin mix. This would also make a fun Project Life card to slip in a pocket style scrapbook page, don't you think?

With Deepest Sympathy

Good morning! I'm sharing a card this morning over on the My Craft Spot blog. Seems like I have had a lot of requests for sympathy cards this year - definitely given me a great opportunity to stretch my efforts on those. Here is one I made recently:

The beautiful With Deepest Sympathy stamp set from My Craft Spot helps make sympathy cards so much more simple! So many perfect sentiments, and beautiful fonts as well:

I used a beautiful floral image from the Unity Stamp Company May 2014 Kit of the Month, lightly watercolored it in, then added some Stickles to the center of the flowers. Applied distress ink to the edges, rounded a couple of corners, and added some Ivory Jute Twine. Finished off by mounting with foam adhesive to some pattern paper from Basic Grey.

Cowboy Birthday Wishes

Good morning! I recently had someone request a birthday card for a guy with a cowboy theme - it was on short notice, and I'm really happy with how this came out with less than a half hours work!

This is also perfect to link up with the current Simon Says Wednesday Challenge - Emboss it:

I stamped the boot image from Unity Stamp Company's Brave Girl Boots (love that they aren't ALL feminine!) and heat embossed with clear powder - then ran some Tim Holtz distress stain over the top of it. I used some pattern paper from My Mind's Eye, then picked an angle for my boots to rest at, trimmed it to size, and used my Tim Holtz distress tool on the edges. My sentiment is from a MFT Pure Innocence sentiment stamp add on that I had in my stash, and I added some enamel dots, some staples on the side, some jute cord, and a bit of washi tape to finish it off.

Be Strong and Take Heart

Good morning! I found myself needing a couple of encouraging cards for my stash, and since I was dying to use the feather from the Unity July Kit of the Month, it seemed like a good place to start:

I pulled my inspiration from this weeks Cure for the Monday Blues Challenge:

This feather is such a fun image to color in, and yet completely gorgeous left plain and simple too! I colored it with Copic Markers, rounded a couple of corners, then mounted on some older American Crafts pattern paper from my stash. Heat embossed my sentiment from an older Unity set called Faith on vellum in white, and mounted that over the top. Finished off with a couple enamel dots.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful Friday!!!

Sunshine Girl - Unity FWF

Good morning! Hopping along with Unity Stamp Company's Friday Friends with Flair this morning with a card I put together yesterday:

I used this month's Unity {be inspired} sketch:

And also playing along with the current Simon Says Monday Challenge - A Mid-Summer's Challenge:

The Simon Says Monday Challenge is also perfect- Emboss it!

Finally, linking up with the Frilly and Funkie Cool Water Challenge - the dots around this beautiful girl make it look to me like she is standing on an ocean pier, with the ocean spray flinging up behind and around her!

I wanted this project to have a soft, romantic, and vintage feel to it. I embossed the image from the Unity July Kit of the Month on kraft paper, then trimmed and distressed the edges. I added some pattern paper from Crate Paper (floral) as well as Glitz Designs (stripe) then heat embossed my sentiment from the same stamp set in black on vellum, trimmed to a banner, then attached with a tiny staple. Used My Craft Spot's Fancy Edges die on the right side, attached to my cardbase, and added a couple of enamel dots to finish off.

Hope you are having a wonderful Friday! Thanks for stopping by!

Skyline Thanks

Good morning! Sharing a masculine thank you card using another favorite stamp for Altenew - Sketchy Cities America:

I used the beautiful Inspiration #4 from Iron Craft Challenge week - LOVE this beautiful set!

I used a technique for this one that I saw Laura Bassen demonstrate on her post HERE - I just changed it a bit for my card. I stamped my skyline on watercolor paper, then smooshed my distress ink on my clear block, spritzed it with water, then pressed over my stamped image. I did the yellow first, a bit of green in the middle, then the blue on the top. Added a simple popped up sentiment from Label Love, matted with black cardstock, then mounted on an Avery Elle woodgrain cardstock card base.

Hippo Birdie Watercolor

Good morning! I had so much fun digging into my unused stamps stash to make a couple of fun watercolor cards - and instead of just making one card, I made a masculine and feminine version all at the same time! I really enjoy doing that whenever possible, since it is an easy way to do all the work and thinking at one time, and accomplish 2 cards in almost the same amount of time! Here is the feminine version:

My inspiration was the current Lawnscaping Challenge - Watercoloring:

I also am playing along with the current Curtain Call challenge - Anything Goes:

I used the cute Lawn Fawn set that was made to celebrate Lawn Fawn's 4th birthday, Year Four. LOVE how easily these created my scene! No masking required at all! I watercolored it in, then trimmed to fit on a panel cut with Avery Elle's Pinked Elle-ments die from Simon Says cardstock.

Here is my masculine version - notice the watercoloring is pretty much identical?

I hand trimmed my own banner out of the same Simon Says cardstock, and heat embossed the sentiment in white on it. Layered everything together with foam adhesive for lots of fun dimension, and added both pattern papers from Crate Paper's Open Road 6x6 paper pad.

Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you are having a wonderful day!!!

Gold Glitter Dipped Feathers

Good morning! Had fun playing along with a couple of challenges the other day, and here is one of the cards made as a result:

First up, I played along with the Runway Inspired Challenge - loved those layers of florals on the dress in the photo:

Next up, I used some of my much loved Paper Smooches stamps to link up with their Anything Goes Challenge for the week:

I started off with some Basic Grey pattern paper that I cut into angled strips and layered on the top of my card front. Added my sentiment from Salutations stamp set along the bottom, and wrapped some jute twine around. Finally, I used Paper Smooches Feathers Die to cut out some PTI cardstock, added a thick coat of Glossy Accents to the top, and coated with chunky glass glitter to give a dipped effect. Attached with foam adhesive and added some enamel dots to finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a wonderful day!!!

Tall Thanks!

Good morning! I have had this cute little giraffe from Avery Elle in my stash for quite some time now, and just been waiting for some time to ink it up. Finally took some time the other day:

Part of my motivation was to play along with the current Avery Elle AEI{heart}U Challenge - One Word - although I didn't realize I was a bit late to link up! Oops!

My cute giraffe came from the stamp set called What's Up, and I chose to stamp on watercolor paper and paint it with my watercolors. The sentiment came from one of the little free "thank you" stamps that always come in my orders from Avery Elle - such a fun touch! I added wiggly eyes to him, and a fun metal speech bubble from my stash. I used Avery Elle's Pinked Elle-ments dies to cut the background out of kraft paper - this is seriously becoming one of my all time favorite dies! LOVE! Added some pattern paper from Basic Grey, some machine stitching, some jute twine, and an October Afternoon button.

So fun! Thanks for stopping by today! Have a wonderful day!

Hope Anchors

Good morning! Just dropping by to share another challenge card with you this morning:

I made this to play along with the current challenge at Little Tangles - Stencils:

For this card, I actually used two different stencils. The triangle pattern one on the front - I inked that with distress ink in two parts. I first did the blue, then I moved the stencil over to the side before applying the green. LOVE the two tone effect, and so simple! Once I did that, I stamped my sentiment over the top, trimmed it to size, and mounted on a square cut with Avery Elle's Pinked Elements die. I also used large chevron stencil on the kraft paper, inked with MFT Natural ink, so it gave a pretty soft tone on tone effect - hard to see in the photographs of course! Added some jute twine, then attached that panel with foam adhesive, and finished off with some white gel pen faux stitching around the edges.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

MCS Challenge - For little Boys!

Good morning! It's time for a new challenge at My Craft Spot, and this time the challenge is to make a project Just for little Boys. Here is what I made for inspiration this week:

I used Scrapping Life Cards Metal dies to first cut the little polaroid frame out of kraft paper. I backed it with a small piece of pattern paper from October Afternoon's 8x8 Sasparilla paper pad. I stamped my sentiment from Birthday Wishes stamp set - love what a perfect fit it is! Layered some pattern paper from the same pad, then twisted together some Natural Jute String to resemble a lasso, and mounted the frame over it with foam adhesive. Finished off with a couple of Berry Red Sequins.

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you will come play along with us this week! Have a great day!
